If your tax calculations in Shopify invoices are incorrect—even after configuring your general tax settings—it may be due to specific Shopify Markets settings and product-level tax configurations. These issues are entirely related to Shopify’s functionality, and Winehub cannot provide direct support for Shopify tax setup or compliance queries.
Shopify Markets Tax Settings
Shopify Markets enables you to customise how tax is displayed for different regions. Even if your storewide tax settings appear correct, each Market can override them. By default, Shopify sets tax display to line item which may not suit your requirements.
To check or update this setting:
Go to Shopify > Markets in the main Shopify menu.
Select the relevant Market (e.g. Australia).
Under Taxes and duties, choose Show tax as included in prices if that aligns with your local tax compliance needs.
Save changes.
This controls whether tax is shown as part of the price or separately and directly affects how it appears on your tax invoices.
Product-Level Tax Configuration
Each product variant in Shopify must be manually configured to apply tax. If this is not enabled, tax will not be calculated or displayed on checkout or invoices.
To verify this setting:
Navigate to Products in Shopify.
Select the product and scroll to each variant.
Ensure Charge tax on this product is ticked.
Apply this setting to all taxable product variants.
These settings are all part of Shopify’s core functionality and are outside of Winehub’s platform or control. For accurate tax handling and invoice presentation, it is essential to follow Shopify’s guidelines.
