What is CRV?

California Redemption Value (CRV) is a mandatory deposit applied to eligible beverage containers sold in California. The fee is added at the point of sale and can be redeemed by consumers when they return the empty container to a certified recycling centre.

For wineries shipping into California, CRV must be applied to applicable bottled products in accordance with state regulations.

This feature is only applicable to retailers selling wine in or shipping wine to California.

How is CRV applied in Winehub?

When enabled in Winehub, CRV is automatically added to recurring wine club orders that contain applicable products.

This ensures your subscription shipments remain compliant without requiring manual intervention for each club run.

Please note:

• CRV currently applies only to recurring club orders

• For ad hoc (one-off) orders, CRV must be added manually

• The system will add CRV as a separate line item using a designated CRV product

By automating CRV on club shipments, you reduce compliance risk and remove manual admin from every club run — especially valuable as your subscription base grows.

Setup Instructions

To enable CRV in Winehub, follow these steps:

1. Create a CRV Product in Shopify

You must first create a product in Shopify that will represent the CRV charge.

• Price: Free (value will be applied by Winehub at the time of billing)

• SKU: CRV
  

• Type: Fee
  

• Category: Uncategorized
  

• Winehub Type: General
  

• Ensure the product is active and available to the appropriate sales channel
  

• Either turn stock tracking off or set to continue selling when out of stock
  

• Enable at all locations to avoid delivery profile processing issues

This product will be used by Winehub to apply CRV automatically to qualifying subscription orders.

2. Enable CRV in Winehub Settings

1. Navigate to Settings

2. Select General Settings

3. Go to Order Processing Settings

4. Check the CRV checkbox

5. Save your changes

Once enabled, CRV will be applied automatically to eligible recurring club orders.

Important Notes

• CRV must be configured correctly in Shopify before enabling the setting in Winehub.

• CRV is applied per eligible unit based on the system configuration.
  

• All wine products need to be classified as 'Wine' in Winehub in order for the system to identify eligible products.

• This feature is only compatible with single products right now (ie. not those classified as cases or mixed cases in Winehub or custom cases such as products titled 'case of 6')

• This feature is designed to support compliance workflows without disrupting your existing club operations.

• If you are using automated stock reservation or scheduled club runs, CRV will be included during order generation.
