Creating a New Club Membership
There are three primary methods to create a new club membership in Winehub. Each method suits different sales environments and customer preferences.
1. Website Sign Up
This method mirrors the customer experience and can be used in-store via a quick link tile on your Shopify POS grid.
Open the club sign-up page on your store’s website.
Proceed through the steps exactly as a customer would, entering their details into the Shopify checkout.
Important:
Do not save customer details when using a shared device.
Use credit card only for payment. Other payment methods may save details on the device and are not recommended for shared terminals.
Ignore Shop Pay prompts to login on a shared device.
2. POS Sign Up
QR Code Method
This method allows the staff member to complete the basic club setup via POS, then pass details to the customer to complete their own sign-up and payment securely on their mobile device.
In Shopify POS, tap the Winehub POS Connect tile.
Select New Club Sign Up and select the desired club.
For the first order only, choose the fulfilment location (POS or Delivery).
Select the case size, delivery frequency as required.
Select the wines from the options available.
Add Staff Attribution (if enabled)
Add any Additional First Order Purchases (if enabled)
Tap Generate QR Code.
Have the customer scan the QR code on their mobile device and complete the sign-up and payment process.
Click on 'Winehub POS Connect' button again to 'View POS Sign Ups' to confirm the customer has complete the signup process.
If Apple Pay and/or Google Pay is available on your store, the customer can generally complete their club membership in two clicks. If these payments are not available on the store or if the customer has no saved payment methods, they can simply complete their contact & payment details via their own device.
Tap & Pay Method (Beta)
This is a beta feature that uses newly released Shopify functionality. As such, there are some caveats when using this signup method.
- You must be using the latest version of Shopify POS. Please upgrade the app before using this method.
- 'Subscription Only' products are not currently supported. You must use the QR code method if your club uses 'Subscription Only' products
- All wine club products must be published to both the Online Store & POS sales channels in Shopify
- Orders will come through the POS Sales Channel (vs the Online Store), which may require changes to your reporting
- Pickup orders need to be setup as 'Shipping' and then updated via the backend after creation
In Shopify POS, tap the Winehub POS Connect tile.
Select New Club Sign Up and select the desired club.
Ignore First order fulfilment as this will be customised when you return to the Shopify cart.
Select the case size, delivery frequency as required.
Select the wines from the options available.
Add Staff Attribution (if enabled)
Add any Additional First Order Purchases (if enabled)
Tap Add to POS Cart
Add a Customer to the POS cart including contact details and address
Click Ship all items tile if shipping the very first order (ignore if fulfilling at POS)
Tap Proceed to payment
Have customer accept club terms (if required)
Ask customer to Tap to pay on the card reader device
3. Admin Sign Up
Creating a membership via the back end does NOT generate an initial transaction. Depending on the club type, you will either set an 'anniversary' date for the first order, or the customer will be included in the very next scheduled club run.
