Customer segments in Winehub let you group your customers based on behaviour, preferences, and purchase history - enabling you to deliver highly targeted marketing that resonates. Whether you're promoting a Merlot special or launching an exclusive club offer, segments help ensure the right message reaches the right people.
Segments that include product preferences are driven by
Winehub metafields. You can only use 'product preferences' in segments if your products are correctly loaded with varietal metadata.
Manual Segments
You can build segments manually by adding individual customers or uploading a CSV file at
Winehub > Customers > Segments > Create Manual Segment.

Dynamic Segments
For more powerful, automated targeting, create dynamic segments using a wide range of conditions, including:
- Loyalty Tier
- Wine Club Membership
- Total Spend
- Delivery Frequency
- Product Preferences
- Past Purchases
- Customer Tags
- Top Customer Ranking
- Reservations/Bookings (via Tock integration)
- Address
These conditions can be layered to create ultra-specific customer lists (an AND condition is used when multiple different criteria are added). Once saved, your segment will appear under Shopify Customer Segments, making it easy to use in automations, sync with Klaviyo for email campaigns, or export for further analysis.
Segment Condition Details
- Loyalty Tier Conditions
Select one or more tiers to target. You can also refine this by identifying customers close to upgrading - either by spend or bottle count - ideal for tier-based incentives.
- Wine Club Membership Conditions
Choose specific clubs and optionally filter by membership duration to focus on long-standing or newly joined members.
- Spending Conditions
Set thresholds for either Wine Club or general spending over a chosen time period to target high-value customers.
- Delivery Frequency Conditions
Filter by the number of deliveries a customer has received, perfect for identifying engaged and consistent buyers.
- Preference-Based Conditions
Target based on wine type, varietal or region preferences. Combine multiple conditions using AND/OR logic to narrow or broaden your reach.
- Purchase History Conditions
Target customers who’ve purchased a specific product, or a defined quantity of bottles, within a selected time frame.
- Customer Tags
Use Shopify’s customer tags to build segments around custom attributes you’ve already defined.
- Top Customer Segments
Quickly identify your top customers by selecting a fixed number (e.g. top 100) or by percentage (e.g. top 1%).
- Reservation Conditions
Target customers who have made a reservation over a specified time period (available if using Tock integration only)
- Address Based Conditions
Target customers based on their State, City or Zip/Postcode.
